Are your tour guides accredited?

Magpie Tours is a duly formed Australian business with membership of the South Australian Tour Guide Association (SATGA). 

SATGA provides direction and advocacy to provide tour guide services at the highest standards.  SATGA also has related links with the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) a state government organisation that works closely with the tourism industry to realise opportunities for South Australia. 

These links extend to Tourism Australia, the Australian federal government agency responsible for attracting international visitors to Australia, both for leisure and business events. Our principal tour guides have attended a Certificate standard Tour Guide course conducted by SATGA.

What safety measures do you have in place?

Magpie Tours are not in the business of endangering our clients! We compile tours, select destinations and choose routes that minimise risk.

We are particularly alert and responsive to environmental challenges because South Australia can be very hot in summer, cool and wet in winter, and everything else in between. We respond to extremes of weather by modifying routes, times and advising of any need to bring appropriate protective gear to our tours.

What experience do your guides have?

Our guides are chosen on the basis of their own travel experiences in a wide variety of both the most and least travelled parts of the world.  

We also require a detailed knowledge and background in the areas we operate. This results in our guides being friendly and empathetic towards our client’s own travel experiences. 

We aim to make our tours interesting, informative, entertaining and memorable, so our tour guides are carefully selected to achieve these outcomes.  Also, our Tour Guides are genuine locals.

Are your tours fully insured?

Magpie Tours have insurance cover for public indemnity.  We emphasize the need for travellers to have their own comprehensive travel insurance arrangements, especially for medical and health related events, property loss and unexpected scheduling changes.  

What qualifications do your drivers have?

All drivers are vetted for appropriate licensing and background checks.

Do your guides have a first-aid certificate?

Yes all guides have up to date first-aid, renewed yearly.
