Information

We will take you to wineries that feature your favourite variety of wine and perhaps also one of the emerging “new” or lesser known varieties that have piqued a modern winemaker's interest. The Barossa Valley is a major wine region where you can explore your inclinations for wine as little or as much as you like. There are nice culinary moments along the way, including lunch at a special venue. This is New World wine country and experimentation is the name of the game.

  • Magpie Tours has working connections with many Barossa Valley businesses, including wineries and their winemakers. This amounts to providing you with privileged, unforgettable experiences that are not generally available to the public.
  • Tasting the Barossa wines, Australia's premier wine making district
  • Viewing great contemporary Australian artists and craftsmen.
Itinerary Highlights
  • Car pick up from your accommodation.
  • We pass through historic North Adelaide, jump onto the freeway and head North to the Barossa region.
  • We stop at a lookout to gain a visual understanding of the extent of the Barossa.
  • We visit 3 or 4 wineries that reflect your interests and preferences.
  • Food is also a prominent part of the Barossa character, so we take you to an award winning restaurant where you can enjoy a meal and a glass of wine on us.
  • Somewhere along the way, you will visit a gallery showcasing local artists with a taste of delicious treats only available in the Barossa.
  • As the sun heads West towards the horizon, we will head back home and return you to your accommodation around 5.00pm.
  • We will give you taste experiences, and we will share our extensive knowledge of the history and our relationships of this region.
Good to Know
  • This is a one day driving tour with minimal walking, from 9am - 5.30pm.
  • We recommend you dress for comfort. Dressing for style is also OK, but keep the shoes flat.
  • The drive from Adelaide to the Barossa is approximately one hour each way.
  • This tour is best suited to adults. However, if you would like children along with us they are welcome as the tour can be made more inclusive for little people and family groups, but it is important to let us know beforehand. If you have children with you, a Private Tour is better suited.
